in the newly posted MPF list, I find it quite interesting that the new Mizuno MP-H4 irons have the lowest MPF of any Mizuno's yet they are touted as the most playable and forgiving by Mizuno! Whats that all about?
I know you addressed this to Ralph, but I thought I would jump in and give my two cents worth. Dynamic Gold and the Dynalite were the go to replacements then, and still can be. The Dynalite as we have known it is discontinued, but the Dynalite SL and XP exist and are available in .355, which is what he Eye 2's will need. If you have the original ZZ Lite shafts in the Eye 2's, those were lightweight, stiff shafts. Many times when a repair was needed, we used the TT Lite as a replacement because it was similar in playing characteristics (but not exactly the same). If it were me, I would not change the shafts in the Eye 2's, just because they were such a industry changing design and in their original condition, hold some value (at least to me they do - I have a set). If your hitting the I20's with the KB's 15 yards longer, and you like the feel, I would find a way to duplicate that set as a back up (buy a used set, wait for a discount somewhere), then re-shaft to your specs. That being said, if you just like to have a couple of different types of sets to pay with, so be it, but I doubt just a shaft change in the Eye 2's will get you the 15 yard difference. There has to be something else causing that disparity. The designed lofts are very close, so unless the lofts have been altered, the distance difference should not be more than a few yards. Club length could be part of it, but I doubt there is a huge difference there either. Again, I would try and get a set as close to your I 20 set as possible. Britt
Ralph, I have seen earlier posts regarding replacing the original shafts in becu eye2 irons and you recommended dynamic gold or dynalite. That posting was in 2007. Do you still believe those to be the best choices, or have other offerings now available perhaps modified that opinion? My set has the original micro taper shafts. I still hit them ok, but they do not carry quite as far as my new i20's with KBS Tour Reg shafts. My carry with the i20 7 iron is consistently 165. I believe the eye2 7 iron is about 150 at best. I'm hesitant to mess with the original set up of the eye2's but would like a viable back up for the i20's and wonder if reshafting is the right way to go...and if so, with what? Thank you.
Just a heads up, in case you haven't looked, we have posted quite a few 2013 models MPF ratings on The Golfworks website. We have re-organized the list, by company and by year so it is easier to find what you may be looking for. We still have some to do, but most of the 2013 models are now on the list. Britt
