14 Rules of Thumb to Be A Better Putter

1. Stance parallel to putt line with feet square and knees square
2. Body bent over at the waist with knees slightly bent
3. Eyes over center of ball on its line to 3/4” players side of the line
4. Shoulders square to the putt line
5. Hands directly under shoulders, elbows body width apart and square to putt line (only works with the correct length putter)
6. Palms facing each other when gripping putter (neutral grip)
7. Hands soft (light grip pressure)
8. Weight more on left foot (right-hand putters)
9. Keep putter low and slow on takeaway with no forward press
10. Position ball 1/2” to 1” forward of bottom arc of putter path
11. Path is natural arc inside (takeaway) to square (at impact) to inside (follow-through). Never try square, square, square putting stroke
12. No wrist break in stroke, shoulder-only pivot
13. Watch the putter head hit the golf ball
14. Concentrate on each putt; maintain a positive attitude and record your putting statistics for every round of golf

Don’t overlook the importance of selecting a putter head design that fits your skill level.
