I downloaded the Fitting Score card from the web site. I understand how to fill it out but then what do I do with it? How do I interpret it or do I take it in to one of your fitting sources?

DJ252304, I checked with the home office of Golf Galaxy and both of the club fitting forms I mentioned to you are in all our stores. So, all I can say is try again and let me know what happens.

DJ252304, I am looking into this. Britt (from the GolfWorks) and I developed two fitting forms for the stores quite a while back in 07. One is the quick short form and the other is a form that looks very much like the one in my book but is abbreviated a little but it will do the same thing. This form is called “The Complete Fit Worksheet” and has “Maltby Certified” in the upper left hand corner and “Golf Galaxy” in the upper right hand corner.

You can request a Maltby Certified Fitter when you go to the store. Mostly, the Golf Professional in the store will be certified and one or two others.

The fitting book you read is the one that I am updating and expanding and is well on its way. At some point I simply need to stop writing, but I want all the latest fitting and club design information and other new stuff in it.

One of the things that I really believe makes a good fitting is in the “Personal Interview” part of the fitting worksheet. As a fitter, I want to know what you intend to do in golf, I want to know what preferences you have and any possible physical limitations. Anyway, as I said, I will try and find out about the fitting worksheet used in the stores.

I have read much of your COMPLETE GOLF FITTING PLAN and examined the Fitting Worksheet. Today I called my nearest Golf Galaxy store (Fairfax, VA) and asked if I could get a fitting that uses the Worksheet. I was told that the only fittings done at that store are the 3 listed on the web site and that the Worksheet is not used. Since the worksheet is very detailed, I suspect that it takes a fitter longer to go through it than to watch one’s swing and interpret launch monitor and impact results (board & tape). However, I’d like to get a fitting from a Maltby Certified Fitter who uses the worksheet. Can you help me?

Lytnup, I will pass along your request to Britt Lindsey at the GolfWorks. You are not alone in this request. As of today we have no plans for left hand.

    Mr. Maltby,

Don’t know if I was on the right board. My question is this:

Just wondering?I tried the Callaway Big Bertha 08 at my local Golf Galaxy. I loved them and was real happy to learn of the Glider ? X. Since I am not a low handicapper that can afford the $600 + for the Callaways?I was ready to purchase the Gliders. There was much disappointment in learning they were only available in RH. Any plans to make this great set for us Lefties??? Remember?Mickelson just won Riviera!

Eric, look for the thread titled “Golf Digest Article”, and you’ll see a good response to that article about the “superiority” of name brands…

That was the information I was needing. Thank you. I would like to know something else. I was reading in a Golf Magazine that Name Brand clubs are better then component clubs, because Name Brand clubs take more time and do more research before making a club. Is not all golf clubs really components since you can mix and match clubs to a personal preference or even since you can buy them off the rack they still have to be put together first?
