A-Ra-Ra, I would definitely go with the Callaway X-20’s. These irons will help you the most to get to the next level or simply make the game easier to play. Also, to save a little money, look at the previously owned (used) Callaway website for the older models which also have a very high playability factor.

    Mr. Maltby -

I am a ~25 Hdcp-er who doesn’t get many rounds in per year, but was considering replacing my very old Ping Eye 2 (Red Dot) irons with some newer technology, if I can get it at a decent price, at my local sporting goods store. I was strongly considering the Adams A30S irons-hybrid set, but did not see it rated in your MPF ratings. I also would consider the Callaway X-20 or X-22 irons. It appears the X-20 have a much better MPF (1051 vs 854), so would apparently be a better choice for me. Which of these three would you think would be my best choice? Is there something else I should add to this race?

    Thanks for your thoughts, A-Ra-Ra

I understand MPF. But why doesn’t everyone, including pros or low handicappers use very forgiving clubs. In other words, what does one give up by using clubs that reduce errors? If pros could reduce 4 round scores by a few stokes they would make so much more money

Jhughes@earls.ca, I have the Burner Plus listed in the 2009 MPF Supplement and I have a 2010 Burner listed under the 2010 Supplement. I may be missing the normal Burner in 2009. At the time Taylormade sent in the new 09 models to my studio, there was no burner. If I remember correctly, the Burner came out a few months later. Anyway, let me check this out.
