pikey, go with the Big Berthas or the X-22’s. These are high playability irons and they will definetly help you. There is no such thing as having too much playability in a set oif irons and they will not hurt you as you improve. They will actually make you improve faster.

I am not a big fan of the Uniflex shaft but it will be fine for you for some time. When you get down to somewhere around a 14 handicap or so, you simply need to have your swing speed and a few other things evaluated to see if a shaft change is in order. I like the #4-PW for your handicap allowing you to fit in at least 1 hybrid and possibly 2 depending on your fairway metal clubs (distance wise).

Mr. Maltby, I have been golfing for about 3 years now. I have decided it is time to upgrade my clubs. I was wondering what iron set I should go with the Big berthas or the nike sumo. I can get them both for around the same price. When I get better will these irons limit my play? I have considered the X-22 from callaway also. (A little expensive for me) I hit all the above clubs at my local store and I really like them all. The shaft that comes on the nike (steel- true temper sl)is the same shaft the golf pro fitted me with. The callaway has the uniflex. Is this going to be a problem? Are they comparable? Should I go with a 3-PW or a 4-SW set? The BB have the I-brids. Does this mean would not have to purchase additional hybrids or woods? I know I have a lot of questions.. Thank you for your help.
