I am not sure how this can be reduced without removing weight from the heads ?

I know one can counterweight in the butt end, but that is more or less fooling physics as what you feel at full speed in the swing is head weight times shaft length squared. I think the feel at adress and at top of swing can be adjusted back this way, but not when you release the head.

The new swingweight might work well anyway…

An extra half inch should result in +3 swingweight points. If you also use a 10g heavier shaft, that’s another swingweight point. You should feel the difference between 4 swingweight points.

    Ralph,

I was recently fitted for a new set of AP1 710 irons, stiff graphite shaft 1/2” long @ Golf Galaxy. I am changing the stock graphite shaft from a 75 to 85 gram shaft (closely matches my ping i10 shaft weight and torque numbers). The demo that I hit was a 1/2 long T-75 shaft with a 2 degree upright head screwed in.

After the fitting the fitting specialist asked if I would want the swingweight readjusted since the club shaft would be 1/2” longer. Will there be that noticeable a difference between the 2 versions? If I calculated correctly I would be only looking at 2-3 swingweight points. I figure the most changes in feel would be changing shafts as the T-85 shaft is heavier and has a lower torque rating.

    Thanks
