Which Callaway iron?

I use X-18 irons 4-9, and a 3i rescue club. I have tried BB irons in many guises. Personally, I’m not keen on the wide sole big bertha irons (3-5). Although I see the point in them, my fear is that there has to be a compromise somewhere…..like, how well do they work off anything less than a good lie? Is there a difference/advantage for a player who sweeps the ball as opposed to striking down? Much to ponder. The pull bad shot is unlikely to change one way or the other with either design of club – unless the BBs are MORE OFFSET than the X-20s in which case, I’d avoid. If I was buying tomorrow I’d probably go for the X-20s 5-PW and two rescue/hybrid clubs. If, however you can hit a few (test them out) with the 3-5 wide sole and they work for you, then you’ll be truly confused.

Hi, I am looking at two different sets of Callaway irons, the Big Bertha 08s with the wide soled 3-5s and the X-20s. Both irons have such a high MPF, which should I consider? What are the advantages of both?

I shoot normally between an 86-94. My shot tendency is usually a pull, if anything. I live in northern Ohio, so I play in both wet and dry weather, but play most of my golf in average condtions.

Does anybody have experience with these sets of irons?
