S59 are basically equally playable as your i5s. I belive they are 1 degree stronger in loft, but height of centre of gravity and distance from hosel to centre of gravity is equal.
S58, S59 or I5 ? your taste…but I give a tiny pluss to the S58

PingMan, I agree with Jonag. My comments would be to try and get a hold of a #6 iron demo and hit it compared to your current Pings. Take the shaft difference into consideration from the demo to your club. The key here is to see how solid they feel to you and gauge the trajectory differences. I do like the S58’s and was surprised at the amount of playability Ping built into them. For average golfer’s I am hesitant about the stronger lofts, but for you I do not see a problem. The absolute key here is to get the correct shaft for you and get the best trajectory.

The S58 is in fact more playable. The heads have the same forgiveness towards heel/toe but the S58 has almost 2mm lower COG and could give higher launch and spin and better flight ?. The S58 have 2 deg stronger lofts but that is something that really do not matter. You need to have equal length gaps in your set anyway.
If the looks are compelling the S58 could make golf even easier, in fact you cannot get a better trade-off between playability and looks than what for example the S58 can give.
S58 with a lower launching shaft for control might be the best option.
But the i5 can take you to the PGA tour, no problem.

Ralph,
I have been playing the PING i5s for sveral years now and have really enjoyed them. My game has improve a lot over the years and I was wanting to move to a a iron that is bit smaller and more blabe like. I see the s58 have a better MPF than the i5. Are the s58 just as easy to play as the i5s, and do you think this would be a good alternative for what I am looking for? Just a little worried about making the leap.
