Wow, I just played my first nine holes with the x-14 pro’s today and I shot 38. It felt great hitting an iron that I was fitted for with out paying the high price for new clubs. I am very happy, wedges will be next. Thanks for all the help and the 6.5 rifles are awesome.

I only hit a 7 iron about 155 to 160, so most people would say these shouldn’t fit me, but they do. I get a good high trajectory without ballooning and they are the most accurate irons I’ve ever had. Some recent experiences really have me questioning the trend toward softer shafts. Karsten Solheim put stiff shafts in his ladies clubs. Was he wrong? He sold an awful lot of clubs to an awful lot of very happy customers when he was alive and in charge at Ping.

Re: X-14 wedges. They have a little different look than most with the very short hosel and rather shallow heel. If you like the look then there’s no reason not to give them a shot. But they are going to look a little different than the Vokeys and if you like those it would probably be best to stick with them. Wedges are a very personal thing and do not have to match the set of irons.

That’s great information. How do the 6.5 rifles play? I currently play dg-s300. I hit my 7 iron about 170, give or take a few yards. I am hoping this is a great set up and improves my handicap. I am excited about this, I went to the golf works website and used the iron fitting guide and find that the 6.5 shaft fits my profile. It will be an adjustment but I am excited. Any more suggestions. What would a good wedge set up be? I am currently play a volkey 52, 56, and 60. Should I consider the x14 wedges?

IMO, I’d say buy those X-14 Pros, and use the money you save for green fees. I don’t believe any of the newer Callaway designs have improved on those much, if at all. And yes they are a much easier to hit club than the 762s.

I’m playing a set of the standard X-14s with Rifle 6.5s and they are great.

I see the Titleist 762’s are considered a classic iron with a MPF in the mid 300’s, where the x-14 pro’s are almost 900, would the be an easier club to hit compared to my titleist irons? Please let me know what everyone’s opinion is. I am looking to purchase this irons in the next couple of days. Thanks,

Mr. Maltby I am currently struggling with my iron game. I used to play ping eye 2s and considered myself a good ball striker but my car was stolen and I needed a new set of clubs. I ordered a set of titleist 762’s. I have struggled with these clubs for the last 8 seasons. I am ready to buy a set of game improving irons. I am not a person who likes to spend a lot of money on equipment. I usually buy used equipment with hope of finding a great iron. I recently was fitted by callaway for there x22 but I am not a big fan of a uniflex shaft. I tend to load the shaft and can be aggressive at times. I have found a set of callaway x14 pro with a 6.5 rifle shafts. I required an upright lie like these iron would getting the x14 be a sound investment for my game or should I buy a new set of x22’s.
