keyser and swingdome, my math was bad but the explanation further on was correct. keyser is correct, 4 degrees bounce plus 4 degrees increased loft equals 8 degrees total bounce. swingdome you are still all right as this is a fairly big bounce reduction from a normal sand wedge of 12 to 14 degrees bounce.

“swingdome, when you bend the 52 degree wedge with 4 degrees of bounce to 56 degrees you will increase the bounce to 6 degrees.” Ralph, you mean the bounce will be 8 degrees, right?

swingdome, when you bend the 52 degree wedge with 4 degrees of bounce to 56 degrees you will increase the bounce to 6 degrees. The bounce always increases the same amount of degrees that any iron is weakened in loft. Conversely, the bounce always decreases by the same amount of degrees that the loft is strenghtened.

This change will get the leading edge of the wedge closer to the ground. You may need to open the face up a little more than normal for sand shots to get enough effective bounce but only your course playing conditions will help you with this.

Ralph – if I wanted to play a 56 degree wedge w/ about 6-7 degrees of bounce, what’s the best way to go about that? I was thinking of starting with a 52 (4 degree bounce – your milled wedge) and increasing the loft to 56. What would that do to the 4 degree bounce? My guess is it’d go up, but by how much?

10 degrees of bounce is just too much for my game & course – and that’s what is standard on your 56 milled wedge that I wanted to try. Thanks for your thoughts here, I do appreciate your time and responses.
