I recently bought the 3 and 5 wood Trouble Ouy Fairway woods with MPF fairway shafts -R-flex. I am now using the threewood as a driver because I am much more consistent with it from both the tee and in any fairway or rough. I am 66 years old with some tendinitis issues but the other day I hit a drive that had to be perfect or hit a sprinkler head or something as It measured 294 yards with a gps2 rangefinder! Three witnesses!

i second that. I have the 3w, 5w, 21 and 25 hybrid. You will get more distance from fw due to the better energy transfer with a lower COG, especially at lower swingspeeds.

Cam, there is no negative effect at all from the fairway. You will be more than pleased. Remember, these fairways have the lowest center of gravity on the market. More solid hits more of the time.

I am considering the TO fairway woods. But I am rarely in the rough using woods, but on the fariway. Do the sole runners have any negative effect on my ability to hit from the fairway?

I currently have a generic “grass driver” 2 wood with about the same loft as the 3 wood. It also has small runners on the bottom, not as sharp or pointed as the TO runners. But I hit this fine from the fairway. My current 3 wood is more traditional looking on the bottom (about the loft of the 5 wood in the TO line) and I also hit it fine from the fairway. Neither goes too far (190 yd for 2 wood 175 yd for 3 wood), but a good hit by my standards.
