keyser, all I can tell you is that all of my testing has never proved that center weighted clubs will apply more energy to the ball. I have done hitting tests and laboratory tests with high speed photography and force analysis progarams and again nothing like this has ever showed up. I would also assume that a touring professional would pick up something like this if there is a significant difference and they would all be playing muscleback irons. Truth is that perimeter weighted irons perform best for 98% of all tour players. The muscleback is almost gone from the tour. Tiger will probably play his forever because they work for him.

Ralph, I´ve been discussing mass distribution in golfclubs with another clubmaker here. He maintains that the more the mass is in the center of the club, the more energy will be transfered to the ball, thus he says clubs that are perimeter weighted will result in less distance(on center hits). In essence he´s saying that higher MOI clubs will result in less energy transfer to the ball on center impact. I think some of this is taken from clubmaker Muira who says strikes would be purest with a clubhead barely bigger than the ball.

I don´t agree with any of this, I can´t see how the ball will know if the weight is distributed or in the center if it´s struck in the middle. The CG will be in the same place. Can you give a better technical answer to this.

    Thanks.
