I´m thinking of maybe trying to raise the alignment line to the height of a golfball… going to test it before I put on something permament. I´ll link you to some pics of the masterpiece when it´s done:)

I would be in strong favor for seeing some of the 304 series at 360g.

Ralph, I had some weights to play around with to put on the head of my extreme MOI putter, and I also had weights to put under the grip. I decided to not think about anything I´ve read, just what felt comfortable in my hands. I ended up with a certain weight that felt good in my hands and I went to the practice green and so far it´s working well. I then measured the putter and the head weight is 424grams and I have a 100g weight under the right hand(right handed and use a right hand below left standard grip). So the putter is extremely heavy compared to std., and the swingweight too. But in my hands it doesn´t feel that heavy at all.
I sprayed the weights on the head black, and put them over the current ones(felt the shiny look on them distracts me). Next I´m going to do a straight red alignment aid all the way from the back to the front(it hurts my alignment when the lines don´t go all the way to the front of the face), and put a matching red line on my ball.

sonoma9600, these heads started out to be 370 and 380 gram weight range to mostly compete with some of the heavier Taylormade putter heads swingweighting in the upper “E” ranges. They came in late and they were heavier than the specification. With that said, they have been very popular for the shorter putter lengths like 33” and shorter so we left them at the current weight. Also, a number of them are made into belly putters. There is also a trend to go with heavier headed putters, but I still stick with my “normal” swingweight published ranges. The manufacturer’s have figured out that a heavier putter head means a much higher Moment of Inertia (MOI) reading and I am sure this is why some of them have heavier heads.
We do plan to add to this line and the new models will be more in-line with 360 gram head weights. I also think it might be a good idea to make these same heads (2008) in a 360 gram model for the 2009 line. I will try this idea out on Britt.

Ralph, I’m curious as to why a lot of your newer putters have “fixed” 400g head weights. You strongly emphasize how important it is to be in the proper swing weight zone for distance control (C8-upper D’s). Yet many of your designs with 400g head weights will not allow a putter to be in this swing weight zone, unless they’re built at 32.5” or shorter.
Are these heavy heads meant for belly putters, or have you changed your opinion on the optimal zone for putter swing weights?
I really wanted to try one of the newer Maltby 304 putter heads, but I can’t use a 400g head weight for my proper 34.5” length.
