Ralph can answer all questions, but I have som answers, I think

The flex and flex profile of a shaft will change the spin and angle of attack.

If you have a tip stiff shaft with a high bend point like the TT DG you will get less whip through the ball and less acceleration through the ball. more of a steady speed and angle of attack at impact. This translates more easily to a lower ball flight with less spin. If you have a softer tip and a lower bend point you can experience more acceleration and more whip through the ball. The clubhead whips through on a smaller circle. This can result in a clubhead passing the rest of the shaft throug impact, adding positive angle to the flight. The clubhead will also cut vertically more and set more spin on the ball.

Softness is depending on how much you are able to bend it, not the actual flex. High SS, stiffer shaft will do the same as slower SS and softer shafts.

Mr. Maltby, I sent this as a response to your answer but it may not have gone through. I have a few follow-up questions. (1) Assuming the same loft and same shaft, is the actual VCOG the best factor to look at to determine how high of a ball flight? For example, the Ping I-10 has an actual VCOG of 0.808 and the Callaway X-Tour is 0.789; however, the Callaway X-Forged is 0.681. The 6 irons are all 31 degrees loft. Will the Ping I-10 and the X-Tour hit the ball lower than the X-forged? (2) I notice a number of Tour players are using the Project X shaft. I see you have it and the Dynamic Gold both rated as lower trajectory shafts. Does one actually produce a lower ball flight than the other? (3) Also, I hear people say that the Project X shaft produces lower spin – is this true? (4) Regarding the Project X flighted, does it really produce higher flight with long irons and lower flight with short irons than regular Project X? Thanks for all your help.
