swing4ever, at one time, there was a big difference in parallel and taper tip shafts. This was when taper tip shafts were actually built to a specific length and weight such as the old stand-by True Temper Dynamic (and Gold) shafts in tip taper. Today, many of the steel shafts are made to one length only and then they either leave the tip parallel (.370”) or swedge it down to .355 tip taper. In this way, the same shaft satisfies both hosel sizes. So, for the most part, consider parallel tip and taper tip shafts as having the same playability.
My vote on a shaft is to make sure you try the Dynamic Gold SL shaft first.
